Naevis = helping them connect with their digital selves through a portal connecting to the FLAT. Aespa = savage because they're not putting up with it. If we're going to add on the lore into that, you got a whole storyline. From all of that, she (and all of the members) says "No!" How people push you into a corner, make deepfakes off of you, mock you, "cold spectators" - people just don't care much and just eat popcorn for the show lol. Furthermore, Giselle's first part in particular is referring to online violence imo. That line still makes sense considering the way they're trying to push AI here. I've been researching about it before for an assignment and it actually has a lot of great positive use-cases. I've been seeing the "deepfake on me" line being complained about a lot here but doesn't deepfake refer to any synthetic media made using artificial intelligence? It got a bad rep since it's being used by shitty people for revenge porn, fake news or blackmail. It's actually fun decoding the lyrics and finding a meaning that suits you lmao. Like, there's this part in the music vid wherein Karina has different contact lenses right? My brother asked me why and I said jokingly that it's because her eye was hacked. There isn't a made up word in there except Naevis, but Naevis is a character so she doesn't count lmao. FLAT as a name makes sense because ae's are 2D except when they REKALL (recall) to reality. Kwangya is that unknown, dangerous place between FLAT and reality. It makes sense since the wilderness in general is dangerous and without rules - exactly how it's described in the latter part of SMCU. Like, they're using words that have actual meaning I guess or is at least anchored from actual words? Kwangya for one in Korean translates as "wilderness" in English. Especially if anyone bothered to watch Black Mamba Ep. Imo, I think their lore isn't really that hard to understand tbh. I agree but most criticisms in melon and other charts for Savage is for their lyrics lol. That feels so much more interesting to me. They have their own character, and they feel very aespa. They break the mold for girl groups, they're intense, they're angry, they're story-based. The thing I love most about aespa's lyrics is that they're interesting and they stand out. But if their lyrics are so terrible and cringy then why are their songs consistently topping korean charts now? It's not like the korean general public is familiar with their lore either, so clearly you don't have to fully understand the lore to be into their songs. Some people even say that they're glad they don't understand korean so they don't have to get the lyrics when they listen to aespa songs. When was the last time you've heard a kpop group, and particularly a girl group, come out with a title track who's lyrics weren't either another basic love song, a confidence anthem, or maybe just bragging? My question is: aren't most kpop lyrics cringy or at least cheesy? Let's be honest: lyrics have never been a strong point for kpop, and particularly when it comes to title tracks. People say that the lore is too complicated and doesn't make sense (which, fair enough, but you don't really need to get it for it to still sound cool), but more importantly, I've seen a lot of people criticize them for having cringy lyrics. It seems like every time aespa releases something, people (particularly on reddit) love to shit on their lyrics.
